The Effect of Task Based Learning (TBL) on Students Speaking Skill
vii
ABSTRACT
Accustoming students to speak English has constantly been considered by the teachers
in the school. To attain that, teaching strategy could be used as a solution. Teaching
strategy is a sequence of learning that is used by educators in teaching activity. It helps
teachers simplify the objective of learning. One of teaching strategies that could be
employed is Task Based-Learning (TBL). It constitutes a part of the teaching process
that focuses on the using of tasks as the prime activity. By applying a task, a teacher
would be able to arrange the goal of learning. This paper intends to implement TBL on
students’ speaking skills. To test whether TBL gives an effect to students or not, the
writer employs a pre-experimental method. The samples were taken from students of
tenth grade of SMK Al-Ittihad Purabaya, Sukabumi. There were 15 students who
participated in the test. Pre-test and post-test were instruments used on this paper. It
applies to oral tests for identifying the results before and after being given treatment.
The finding gained interprets that alternative hypothesis is accepted since t-test value
is bigger than the table value (2.67 > 2.14). Hence, the result reveals that has an
effect on students’ speaking skill.
