Anagram Technique On Students' Vocabulary Enrichment
Vocabulary is a key to learn language that must be enriched. A total of 24 students
of VIII-B class of SMP Al-Umm Aswaja still have difficulties to understand and
memorize the vocabulary. For that reason, they need an appropriate technique
which offers an effective way to solve this problem. This research is aimed to
investigate the effect of anagram technique on students’ vocabulary enrichment.
The sample was taken by applying the purposive sampling technique. In conducting
this research, the researcher applied pre-experimental method and chose one group
pre-test post-test design. He gave pre-test, three-time treatments, and post-test to
the students. Vocabulary tests that consisted of multiple-choice and essay forms
were given to measure students’ vocabulary. The data were analysed using t-test
formula. T-test value is 8,52. Meanwhile, t-table value is 2,069 at significant level
0,005 with the degree of freedom (df) is 23. In this case, the t-test value is higher
than t-table value (7,3 > 2,069). It means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is
accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. In conclusion, the result shows
anagram technique is effective to enrich students’ vocabulary.
