Students Errors In Constructing A Text

Writing is one of the most important skills that have to be mastered in vocational high
school level. However, some students still faced a mistake in constructing a text that
could lead to error. The aimed of the research is to investigate students’ errors in
constructing a text in English subject applied by ten grader students.. This research was
conducted at SMK PANDU. There were 16 participants involved in this research. The
researcher used qualitative method and descriptive analysis in conducting this research.
To gain the research data, the researcher used three research instruments:
documentation, questionnaire and interview. Documentation instrument was used to
analyze students’ work of recount text, Questionnaire was distributed to all the
participants and interview was conducted to English teacher. The result from the three
types of errors such as documentation, questionnaire, and interview showed that the
students made addition, misformation and misordering. The conclusion of this research
may urge the students to improve their writing skills and provide the teachers to explore
more on teaching writing practices.
