This study aims to determine the use of audiovisual media in enhancing the ability to
write a text explanation and knowing the constraints of students of class VII SMP
Negeri 2 Bogor City in writing explanatory texts via audiovisual media. The
population in this research were students of class VII, by taking samples of class VII
B as many as 32 students as an experimental class, and class VII A total of 32
students as the control class. The sample with purposive sample (sample intended).
The method used in this study is an experimental method using techniques tests and
questionnaires. The first hypothesis, the application of audiovisual learning media can
improve the ability to write explanatory text class VII SMPN 2 Bogor verified. The
results showed that the students' ability to write explanatory text using audiovisual
media has increased. It can be seen from the average value of the experimental class
at 70 or 70% for pre-test and post-test score of 80 or 80%. The average value of the
control class at 68 or 68% for pre-test and post-test value of 71 or 71%. Based on
calculations performed to compare the results in both classroom learning formula
used t-test, produce prices to significantly due to both the value of tt
