The Use of BBC Learning English Website in an EFL Class : A Narrative Inquiry

BBC stands for British Broadcasting Corporation. BBC is a department with many
broadcasting and education programs, one of which is BBC World Service, which
has a special division for teaching English, namely BBC Learning English Website.
The site provides a full range of features to help its users better understand about
English skill. BBC Learning English Website also provides freely accessible
resources and activities for teachers and students. Therefore, this study aims to
determine the strengths and weaknesses of BBC Learning English from students’
point of view. The research was conducted in class X-6 SMA Negeri 1 Depok, with
forty-two population in an english as foreign language class. This study used
narrative inquiry design with qualitative approach, and used purposive sampling to
obtained samples from the populations. The research data was obtained from class
observation, questinnaire, and interview. The results of this study show that, the
strenght of BBC Learning English Website more dominant than the weaknesses.
BBC Learning English Website can simulate students’ feelings, thoughts, and
encourages learning, On the other hand BBC Learning English Website has
confusing features
