Students Metacognitive Writing Strategies : A Study Conducted to the Students in Pakuan University
Metacognition can not only be used as an approach in the learning process but
also, can be used as a strategy for writing in e-learning media. Therefore, online
media such as e-learning which can be accessed easily, certainly provides
advantages in training students to improve their writing abilities. Thus, the writer
aims to describe Students' metacognitive writing strategies in e-learning. This
study uses a descriptive qualitative method, which aims to describe the
metacognitive strategies used by students in writing argumentative essays. This
study was conducted to 14 people. The respondents are the fourth semester
students of English language education study program who had taken basic essay
writing class. The data was collected using the documentation, closed -
questionnaire and interview. The data from the three instruments are analyzed
based on the three indicators, namely planning, monitoring, and evaluating the use
of metacognitive strategies in the process of writing argumentative essays. The
result shows that 92.9% the students do all the process in metacognitive strategies,
such as planning, monitoring, and evaluating in the process of writing
argumentative essays
