Challenges in Learning Speaking Through Zoom Meeting
This research aims to investigate challenges in learning to speak through zoom
meetings. Because at this time learning is carried out offline and online, therefore
researchers have the choice to find out more about the learning challenges faced
by students. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method,
using a survey technique. In this study using a questionnaire instrument for data
collection, there are 2 types of questionnaires that are used first closed-ended
consisting of 18 statements, and open-ended questions consisting of 6 questions.
Respondents in this study consisted of 121 students with a total of 112 students
who filled out questionnaires for students from the English Language Education
Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Educational Sciences, Pakuan
University. Respondents consisted of third, fifth, and seventh-semester students
who took speaking courses through zoom meetings. The results of this study
indicate that each student has different challenges in learning speaking especially
learning through zoom meetings because students have different challenges such
as students who are understanding the conversation, having less of vocabulary,
pronunciation, shy, grammatical errors, lack of technology, and lack of
motivation. This is because speaking is a learning that goes through a different
learning process for each student and there needs to be supervision from the
teacher or lecturer.
