The Use Of Digital Mind Mapping On Students' Ability To Write Analytical Exposition Text

ABSTRACT
Writing is one of English language skills that must be learned by all students at
every level of education. However, there are still many students who have
difficulties in writing. Students are confused about how to organize ideas in a
structured manner. This research aims to find out whether or not there is a
significant effect of using Mimind application towards students’ writing of
analytical exposition text. This research is conducted at SMAN 1 Cibarusah. This
research applied a quasi-experimental method. The population of this research
was the-eleventh grade students of SMAN 1 Cibarusah. The samples were
categorized into two groups; XI IPS 2 as an experimental group and XI IPS 1 as a
control group. Each class consisted of 34 students. The instrument of this research
was a written test that was given to measure students’ ability to write analytical
exposition text. The data were obtained from pre-test and post-test. The data were
calculated using the t-test formula. The result of this analysis showed that the t-
test value is 7.17. Meanwhile, the t-table is 1.99 at the significance level of 0.05
with the degree of freedom (df) is 66. Therefore, the t-calculated is higher than the
t-table (7.17>1.99). It means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and
the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. In conclusion, the result shows that the
application of digital mind mapping gives positive impact on students’ ability to
write analytical exposition text.
