The Use of Pictionary Games and Bingo Game on Students' Vocabulary Knowledge

ABSTRACT
The aim of this research is to know whether there is a different effect of the use of
Pictionary games and Bingo game on students' vocabulary knowledge. This
research used a quasi-experimental design with a quantitative approach. The
samples of this research were students in class VIII-2 and VIII-4 of SMPN 1
Ciampea. Pictionary games is used in the experimental class and Bingo game for
the control class. The research found that there is a difference in the effect of using
Pictionary games and Bingo game. The difference score of the Mean Score
confirmed that the average of experimental class in the pre-test (74.00) and post-test
(84.16). Thus, the Mean Score of the control class in the pre-test (69.66) and post-
test (79.00). The N-Gain score informs the average gain score in the experimental
class (0.8764) and control class (0.8636). The t-test also informed that the t-value
(2.519) is higher than the t-table (2.001). The hypothesis (Ha) is accepted; which
indicates that there is a different effect of the use of Pictionary games and Bingo
game on students' vocabulary knowledge. Here, Pictionary games has a higher
effect than Bingo game.
