The Effect of Using Community Language Learning on students' Speaking Ability
Speaking is one of the language skills to make students able to communicate in
English. It is needed to convey information, ideas, and opinions in oral way.
However, students face difficulties in delivering their thoughts into spoken
language. Community Language Learning (CLL) is an appropriate method to affect
students in speaking English. The aim of the research is to find out the effect of
Community Language Learning (CLL) Method on students’ speaking ability. The
research was conducted to the eight grade of MTs Bahrul Ulum Bojonggede, Bogor.
The participants were 30 students from class VIII A were taken as the sample by
using random sampling. In conducting this research, a quantitative approach is used
with pre-experimental method. One group pre-test post-test design is chosen in this
research methodology. The result of data calculation, it is found that the value of ttest is 20,73. Meanwhile, t-table value is 2,045 at significant level 0,05 with the
degree of freedom (df) is 29. It shows the t-test value is higher than t-table value
(20,73>2,045). It means the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null
hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. It can be concluded that there is an effect of Community
Language Learning (CLL) Method on students’ speaking ability.
