The Implemetation Ation Of Shadowing Technique On Students' Speaking Ability
Speaking ability is the ability of the student to speak verbally in English to convey
their ideas by using the right vocabulary and correct pronounciation. However,
speaking is still a big problem in Indonesia. This research aims to prove the
effectiveness of using shadowing technique on students' speaking aiblity. The
reasearcher choose a slash shadowing type. This research applied a pre-
experimental method with one group pre-test and post-test design chosen as the
research methodology. The tenth-grade students in SMK Bina Ikhwani are taken
as the population of this research. Twenty students were selected as the samples
using a purposive sampling technique. The tests were given to measure their
speaking ability, and the data were analyzed using the t-test formula. From the
calculation, the researcher finds the result of the t-test value is 8.27 with the
degree of freedom (df) is 19, and the t-table value at the significant level of 0.05 is
2.086. the result shows that the value of the t-test is higher than t-table 8.27 >
2.086. it means that the alternative hypothesis (ha) is accepted. Therefore, the
researcher concludes that using the shadowing technique affects students'
speaking ability.
