USING GUIDED QUESTION TECHNIQUE IN WRITING RECOUNT TEXT: STUDENTS’ AND TEACHER’S PERSPECTIVE
Writing is a skill to deliver the ideas, thought and feeling through a written form
to communicate with other. It is also used as a first step in daily activity. In the
writing process, students are required to deliver their ideas to others in written
form. Meanwhile, recount text is one genre that taught to students besides the
descriptive text, procedure text, and narrative text. However, writing becomes a
problem. It needs appropriate technique to build students’ interest in writing.
Using guided question technique can help students to write easier and interested in
writing activities. This research aimed to investigate the strength of using guided
question technique in writing recount text. The respondents were 8th grade
students and one English teacher at SMPN 11 Kota Bogor. The researcher used
qualitative research with a narrative inquiry. He used documentation,
questionnaire, and interview as the instruments. Based on the data, it is showed
that the strengths of using guided question technique made the students able to
write recount text in well organized, helping students to explore topics, and able
to assist students in generating ideas. In addition, from the teacher’s perspective
showed that this technique is effective to use in the learning prosses. So, the
students could write and develop their writing in properly.
