The Effect of Running Dictation on Students Reading Ability
Reading is in important language skill that plays an important rolr in education and society, but in fact, the teaching of reading is not successful yet. It is caused by monotonous teaching strategy, lack of students' concentration, and lost of students' reading ability. The research is conducted to the seventh grade students' of SMPN 1 Citeureup. The sample was divide into two groups: experimental group and control group. The experimental group learnt reading descriptive text by using running dictation; meanwhile the control group learnt reading descriptive text using PPP- presentation practice producation. The data were colleted through pre-test and post-test by giving the students' reading test, then the t-test was used to calculate the data. The result of the data shows that the value of t-test score is 3.33 and value of degree freedom (d.f) is 70 with the value in t0.05 level of significance t table is 1.67, and the value in t0,01 of significance is 2.39. The result of the test can be described as 3.33 > 2.39 > 1.67. So, the score of t -test is higher than the value of ttabel is. It means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is an effect of using running Dictation on students' reading ability.
