Students' Perceptions Of Online Learning In Public Speaking Course
Public Speaking is one of the skills that must be taught to university students. However, due to the covid-19 outbreak, the goverment ordered schools including universities to conduct online learning. Therefore, online learning is an alternative that can be done support learning activies. Thus, this reserach focused on the challenges and benefits of online learning in the online speaking course. The research aims to find out students' perceptions of online learning in public speaking course. The paticipants were 19 students from the eighth semester who had experienced the online public speaking course. The research was conducted by using qualitative methods, and using questionnaires, interviews, and focus group disussions as the instruments. The data collected were separated into three indicators, wich included psychology, sense, and knowledge. Based on the result, most students perceived that online public speaking courses did not effectively improve their public speaking skill because online practice is not the same as live conditions. Nevertheless, the students perceived that they felt happy during the learning process of the onli public speaking course. However, there were also some the students who perceived that the online public speaking course was quite helpful because lectyrers allowed the students to improve their know ledge and skill. Therefore, they prefer conventional learning because they thought it would be easier to learn public speaking
