Cultural Adaptation of foreign Learnes In Indonesian Context: Challenges and Experiences
This study explores the experiences and chellenges faced by foreigrn students in adapting to the cultural context of learning in indonesia. As the number of international students increases, understanding their adaptation process becomes essential to support their learning and well-being. The aim of the study is to examine how foreign learnes experience and respond to cultural challengs in indonesia english learning thourgh reflective inquiry , data were collectrd fron three forelgn learnes thoug reflective journals, a qewstionnaire, and semi-structured intervis. thematic analysis revealed that cultural adaptation is acomplex process that deeply affects students emotional, social, academic, and language learning experience common challenges included homesickness, loneliness, classroom communication differences, and fear of speaking engglish. despite these difficultis, students also showed personal and academic growth as thes graudually adapted. the study is guided by berry's acculuration model, kim's cross-cultural adaptation theory, and macintyre's willingnes to communicate. the findings offer practikal recomendation to help schools create more supportive learning environments that improve studen's emotonal well-being, academic success, and cultural adjustment.
