STUDENTS’ REFLECTION TOWARD THE USE OF BROCHURES AS AN AUTHENTIC MATERIAL ON STUDENTS’ READING MOTIVATION
This study examines the reflections of ninth-grade students on the use of brochures
to enhance reading motivation at SMPN 1 Babakan Madang. Reading is a
fundamental skill essential for academic success and lifelong learning, yet
motivating students to read remains challenging. Brochures, with their visual and
informational appeal, present a potential tool for engaging students in reading
activities. Using a narrative inquiry method, this study explores students'
perspectives by reflect their learning of using brochures in educational settings.
This study answered the following research question: What are students’ reflection
toward the use of brochures on student reading motivation. The data carried out
using questionnaire and interview. The results indicate that well-designed
brochures can significantly increase students' interest in reading. By understanding
these reflections, educators can make a better reading materials to meet students'
needs, creating a more engaging and motivating reading environment. The
conclusion of the study is that brochures are effective in enhancing reading
motivation if designed with students' interests in mind. This research provides
valuable recommendations for English teachers and further studies on effective
reading intervention strategies.
